I created this collection of ice axes as my master’s project at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Since I am an active climber with a passion for ice climbing, designing an ice axe – especially one that would combine aesthetics with good functional and technical design – was a matter of the heart.
The collection includes ice axes for mountaineering, sport climbing and dry-tooling. Each axe is made of duralumin with holes drilled in the shaft to prevent slippage and reduce weight. To add a touch of elegance, I used burnished steel for the heads. Watch out, K2.
